Description of Practice

The parties and Stan communicate and work together as a team to ensure the neutrality of the mediator.  Stan is unable to speak independently with either party.

The parties meet together with Stan in a safe and confidential setting.  Stan provides a brief orientation and overview of the mediation process.  The parties are able to ask questions and explore any perceptions of the mediation process.   Fears about the process are addressed in the initial meeting.  Goals for the mediation process that each party has are defined.

Thereafter, the parties create and prioritize topics to be structured and resolved in mediation for the division of assets and debts, child custody, parenting plan, and support with the goals of each party being addressed.

Stan will guide the parties through the process of mediation by promoting communication and exploring relevant options to generate a mutually acceptable solution.

Each mediation session builds on the prior session bringing new information to consider, and greater awareness of the varied options for settlement, so the parties can develop and complete the terms for a mutually acceptable agreement.
