Mediate.com offers mediators the opportunity to self-evaluate as "Associate," "Practitioner" or "Senior" Mediators based upon their degree of training, experience and commitment to a comprehensive set of professional standards. Mediators also indicate the number of cases that they have mediated in specific areas and may provide email links to references.

Here are the requirements for Associate, Practitioner and Senior Mediators:

Associate Mediator

• subscribes to Mediate.com's required standards of mediation practice*
• has at least 40 hours of mediation training**
• agrees to take part in at least 12 hours per year of continuing mediation education
• has mediated for at least 40 hours

Practitioner Mediator

• subscribes to Mediate.com's required standards of mediation practice*
• agrees to take part in at least 12 hours per year of continuing mediation education
• has at least 100 hours of mediation training**
• has mediated for at least 200 hours

Senior Mediator

• subscribes to Mediate.com's required standards of mediation practice*
• agrees to take part in at least 12 hours per year of continuing mediation education
• has at least 100 hours of mediation training**
• has mediated for at least 500 hours

* Members must subscribe to the Standards of Mediation Practice and, as applicable, Standards of Practice for Family and Divorce Mediation.

**At least 30 hours of training must be in a single integrated core mediation training offered by a lead instructor who meets Senior Mediator standards. Additional training may be obtained at any international, national, regional, provincial or state mediation conference, as well as through private advanced mediation training, academic programs and online training.
