Nina Meierding, a national leader in the field of conflict resolution, has mediated over 4,000 disputes and has trained thousands of people in almost all 50 states, as well as Canada, England, India, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, and Sweden.
She was the Director and Senior Mediator at the Mediation Center in Ventura, California from 1985-2007 and is now a full-time trainer, professor, and conflict resolution consultant.
Nina customizes her trainings for businesses, courts, school districts, banks, city, county, and federal government agencies, law firms and bar associations, medical centers, corporations, non-profit groups and universities.
Nina has taught at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law for over 27 years and also taught at Southern Methodist University for almost 20 years. She has been an instructor at the National Judicial College and the California Judicial College and is a guest lecturer at universities throughout the United States.
Nina served as a special education mediator for the California State Department of Education and was the mediation partner and trainer for the Wisconsin Special Education System (WSEMS) from 2006 - 2017.
She is a former president of the Academy of Family Mediators and served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Conflict Resolution, the California Dispute Resolution Institute, and the Southern California Mediation Association, as well as on the Council for Distinguished Advisors at Pepperdine University and the Advisory Board at Southern Methodist University and many other organizations.
She was awarded the Peacemaker Award in 1992 by the Southern California Mediation Association for her outstanding work in the conflict resolution field, the Distinguished Mediator Award (an international award given by the Association of Conflict Resolution) in 2005, the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American College of Civil Trial Mediators in 2017, the Distinguished Neutral of the Year by the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals in 2021, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Professional Family Mediators in 2022. She is an honorary fellow of the International Academy of Mediators and an emeritus fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators. She has been profiled in the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Magazine.
