Professor Linda Henry Elrod
Distinguished Professor of Law, Elrod has been teaching at Washburn University School of Law since 1974. She received the William O. Douglas Outstanding Professor Award in 1979.
Professional Activities
She is a founder and First Chair of the Family Law Section of the Kansas Bar Association. Prof. Elrod was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the KBA in 1987-88. She was the first woman President of the Topeka Bar Association in 1986-87. Prof. Elrod has received Distinguished Service Awards from the Kansas Bar Association and from the Washburn Law School Association and was selected as one of Topeka’s Women of Distinction by the YWCA in 1997.
Publications
She wrote the original Kansas Family Law Handbook, a two-volume treatise on Kansas family law for the Kansas Bar Association in 1983, Second Edition in 1990. She is the author of a national treatise Child Custody Practice and Procedure (1969), and co-authors with Jim Buchele, for West Group Kansas Family Law. She has been the editor of the Family Law Quarterly for the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association since 1992 and is the immediate past Chair of the American Bar Association Family Law Section. She is a frequent presenter at Kansas Bar Association, Kansas Trial Lawyers Association and American Bar Association training events.
