The relevance of Gandhian ideals today
Eileen, this is one of the best articles I have read lately and I agree with it wholeheartedly.
The relevance of Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings in present times is unprecedented and will remain so for eons to come. - Mitsu Rajda, On Common Ground, A holistic approach to resolving conflict.

The Article Inspired Me
Eileen's reminders to focus on others, not strive for prestige and recognition and live non-violently really inspired me. These deep but not always popular ideas are lacking in our culture's exclusive focus on money, marketing and success. I felt inspired and will try and impliment these ideas in my own life.

Gandhi and Indians
In today's world, most of the Indians no longer practise Gandhi's principle. They are only taught in Textbooks. Religious Guru's and cults are more revered and respected that blind the people from truth and integrity to hatred and killing in sharp contrast to Gandhi's values.

I really admire people like Eileen Barker who are talking and writing about Gandhi’s work. As the author told us there are many things mediators have to learn from this Great Man. His teachings of non-violence, integrity, non-discrimination, truth and service are also vital for all people in all profession. If most of us internalize Gandhi’s principles the end result of most conflicts would be constructive. Let us continue talking, writing, reading and sharing more about his teachings.
